Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has slammed the government for its failure to deal with smog, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.
The government has not set priorities, the former Punjab chief minister said, adding that the rulers’ inability left the people gasping for breath.
He insisted on developing an eco-friendly transport system for big cities. Taking to Twitter, Shehbaz stressed the need for attaching priority to steps to combat climate change and health hazards.
“Given ill-effects of smog and dengue, public policy needs to prioritize environmental hazards and climate change,” Shehbaz tweeted.
He added: “Big cities need efficient public transport systems to reduce emissions and mitigate the pollution. Responsible governments acknowledge problems and take actions to address them.”
