107 fresh dengue cases reported in Islamabad, suburbs

Around 107 residents of Islamabad and its surrounding areas were diagnosed with the dengue fever during the last 24 hours as the virus continues to the grip the federal capital, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

According to the district health officer (DHO), of these 107 patients, 53 were from the surrounding villages while the remaining 54 were from the city.

Similarly, he said nine people in the capital had so far lost their lives to the disease during the ongoing year.

Of total nine fatalities, seven were reported from the villages surrounding the federal capital while two from the city. 

Giving more details, the DHO said presently there were 2, 337 dengue patients in Islamabad and in its vicinity, of whom 1, 441 lived in villages while the remaining 896 in the city.

79 people diagnosed with virus in KP

Similarly, 79 more cases of the dengue virus have been reported from different parts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) during the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases of the virus reported in the province so far to 4,365. 

According to the provincial health department, there are currently 1, 588 active cases of the disease in KP.

It said that five people had so far lost their lives to the disease. “However, no loss of life has been reported from any part of the province during the last 24 hours,” it explained.

Out of 79 new cases reported, 55 were reported from the provincial capital, Peshawar, alone followed by 13 from Mansehra and one each from Lower Dir and Upper Dir, the health department informed. 

Giving further details, the department said that 115 dengue patients had recovered in the province during the period under review, taking the total number of people recovering from the disease to 2, 772.

Dengue’s spread continues in south Punjab

Dengue has also started spreading in south Punjab as two new cases were reported from Multan during the last 24 hours. 

Hence, the total number of cases reported from the city during the ongoing season now stands at 298.

With the addition of one more case, the number of cases reported from Vehari has reached 29, while there are four patients of the virus in Lodhran, 14 in Khanewal while in Bahawalpur there are 35 patients.

In Rahim Yar Khan, there are 64 people, who have contracted the dengue fever, while there are 32 patients in Bahawalnagar, 48 in Muzaffargarh, 34 in Dera Ghazi Khan and 38 in Layyah.
