A local court in Islamabad on Thursday handed over mother of main accused in Sarah Inam murder case Shahnawaz Amir, Sameena Shah, to the police on two-day physical remand, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Civil Judge Muhammad Amir Aziz presided over the district and sessions court and conducted hearing of the case.
On Wednesday, Sameena Shah, wife of journalist Ayaz Amir, was taken into custody from outside the court after the judge dismissed her pre-arrest bail.
She was initially granted interim bail on September 26, three days after police arrested Shahnawaz for allegedly killing his Canadian national wife.
Sameena Shah was produced before Judge Muhammad Amir Aziz on Thursday. The investigation officer informed the court that Sameena Shah was arrested a day ago after rejection of her pre-arrest bail plea. The judge asked if the prosecution had submitted a challan before the court.
The officer requested the court to grant five-day physical remand of Sameena Shah, saying “we have to retrieve a locket”.
After hearing arguments, the judge approved the police’s request and approved two-day physical remand of the suspect.
