During interbank trading, the US dollar on Monday became 54 paisas expensive with green back surging to Rs168.73 from Rs168.19, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The economic experts were of the view that demand for dollar was rising that’s why its price was going up.

They also held that the surging current account deficit and increase in import both put pressure on rupee making it to shed its value.
