Dr Mishal Karim, a resident of Gulshan-e-Iqbal town of Karachi, who allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a drain six days ago was still missing, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

The family and Edhi volunteers are continuing to search day and night in the garbage and bushes along the drain bank.

The residents of the area also participated in the search operation on self-help basis. One resident even broke down his wall to make it easier for the volunteers.

Dr Mishal’s uncle said that on September 16, information was received that Mishal had jumped into the drain and drowned, but no help was provided by the government.

According to the Edhi volunteer, the main obstacle is the heavy garbage and bushes in the drain which are creating difficulties in the search process.

An eyewitness claimed that he was sitting on his cabin when he saw Dr Mishal running barefoot. A woman behind him was shouting, ‘Catch her’ but before anyone could do anything, Dr Mishal jumped into the drain.

Dr Mishal's neighbour said that she was a very sophisticated woman and they were all shocked by her move.

Despite the passage of six days, the search for Dr Mishal is ongoing. The family, local residents and Edhi volunteers are continuously working.
