Post-mortem completed; cause of deaths remains unclear

The bodies of five people, including a man, a woman and three young girls, were found in an apartment in Karachi’s Ahsanabad area, while investigations into the deaths are underway.

According to the initial post-mortem report, the deceased include a woman believed to be around 35 years old and a man aged between 40 and 45.

The three girls were estimated to be around 10 to 12 years, four years and two years old, respectively, Police Surgeon Dr Samia Syed said.

She said all five bodies were in the advanced stages of decomposition.

Due to their poor condition, the immediate cause of death could not be determined during the post-mortem examination.

Dr Syed said samples had been collected for chemical analysis, which would help determine the cause of death.

The final cause of death has been kept reserved until the chemical examination report is received.

DNA samples have also been collected to help establish the identities of the five victims through DNA profiling.

Police said further investigation was underway to determine the identities of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

The actual cause of death is expected to become clear after the chemical examination report.
