Pakistan strongly condemns desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday strongly condemned the reported desecration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, describing recent actions by illegal Israeli settlers as a grave violation of international law and the sanctity of one of Islam’s holiest sites.

In a statement, the Foreign Office spokesperson said Pakistan strongly denounces in the “strongest terms” the reported raid by Israeli settlers on the mosque compound, including the hoisting of the flag of the occupying power within its courtyard.

The spokesperson stated that such actions are deeply provocative and represent a clear breach of international legal norms as well as the religious sanctity of the holy site. He warned that these developments could further escalate tensions across the already volatile region.

Pakistan called for immediate and effective measures to ensure the protection of holy sites under Israeli occupation. The statement also urged that immunity granted to illegal settlers must come to an end, holding them accountable under international law.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s longstanding position, the spokesperson expressed full solidarity with the Palestinian people and reiterated support for their right to worship freely at their holy sites without fear or restriction.

Pakistan also reiterated its firm backing for the establishment of an independent, viable, and contiguous Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds as its capital.

The Foreign Office emphasized that Pakistan will continue to support all diplomatic and legal efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting resolution to the Palestinian issue in accordance with international resolutions.
