Govt decides to change peak, off-peak hours in electricity bills

The federal government has decided to change the peak and off-peak hours in electricity bills based on the time-of-use tariff, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday. 

In this regard, National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has sought suggestions for the change of hours from all companies, including LESCO.

Moreover, NEPRA has sent a letter to LESCO and other companies for changes in the time of use tariff. 

Currently, companies have peak hours from 7 pm to 11 pm. Other working hours from 11 pm have been included in off-peak hours. 

Suggestions have started coming to bring peak hours to 11 pm on the basis of TOU tariff. 

Due to the production of solar systems, consumers use less electricity than the system during peak hours. 

The power sector is suffering losses due to reduced electricity consumption. Federal government has implemented a tariff for consumers during peak hours at expensive prices.
