Heatwave alert in Punjab, KP and AJK during Eid holidays

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Punjab and Khyber Paktunkhawa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir have issued a heatwave alert from May 25 to 31, during Eid-ul-Azha holidays.

According to the PDMA, heatwave is expected in Khyber Paktunkhawa, Azad Jammua and Kashmir and in Punjab during Eid Holidays.

According to the PDMA, temperatures in northern Punjab are expected to range between 42°C and 45°C, with a further rise likely in cities, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Gujranwala, and Sialkot.

In Southern Punjab, temperatures may rise in Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan between 47 to 50°C.

Authorities have advised children, women, and senior citizens to take precautions, avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun, and stay hydrated. Rescue 1122 has been put on alert to respond to cases of heatstroke and dehydration. Temperatures are likely to increase in Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Lahore, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Kasur and Faisalabad, PDMA Punjab. Temperatures are also expected to increase in Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Pakpattan, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Bhakkar, Layyah, Kot Addo, Sargodha, Jhang, Khushab, Mianwali, Noorpur Thal and Sahiwal.
