Jamiat Ulema Islam chief Maulana Maulana Fazlur Rehman has flayed former prime minister Imran Khan for what he called damaging national economy, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
Addressing a public address in Shikarpur, he bombarded Imran Khan with a volley of questions about his government’s performance, policies and promises.
“With your legislation and policies, Pakistan fell behind. You are raising the slogan of inflation though it started during your tenure. You claim to have taken to the streets for real freedom, taken the name of jihad and spread obscenity. We will block their way,” he said.
He said Pakistan’s name has been removed from the FAFT grey list after the ouster of Imran Khan from the prime minister’s house and is back on track to economic betterment.
“We have come to reform this country in the light of Islam,” he said, adding that Imran Khan is doing politics in the name of Islam.
He stressed Imran Khan went for the American conspiracy narrative, though the US brought him.
He said the foreign funding case and the Toshakhana scandal exposed the PTI chief.
“You destroyed the country's economy. You have been marching to Islamabad for a month.”
Fazl raised a question about the Wazirabad shooting too, saying Imran Khan made a myth over it. “It is not yet known where the bullet hit.”
He continued “You promised to give millions of jobs but fired three lakh people. You passed legislation in Parliament and sold the State Bank to the IMF.”
He said the former prime minister has nothing to do with Pakistan’s progress and prosperity. In 2014, Imran Khan staged a sit-in and at that time, the president of China was due to visit Pakistan with mega projects, now the Saudi crown prince is due to visit Islamabad and Imran Khan is on a protest plan, he added.
