Former inspector-general of motorway police Zulfiqar Cheema has commended Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa for taking notice of the Safdar arrest issue.

In a statement on Tuesday, Zulfiqar Cheema said the COAS action will help boost police morale as the controversy over the arrest and released of the son-in-law of ex-PM Nawaz Sharif damaged the country’s image across the world.

He said that the persons behind this mess be brought to book at the earliest. Safdar was arrested on charges of damaging the sanctity of Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s mausoleum and later released on a court order in Karachi where he accompanied his wife Maryam Nawaz for an event of opposition.
