PML-N announces exit from Azad Kashmir government, to sit in opposition

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has announced its decision to separate from the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government, declaring that it will now sit in the opposition benches, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, PML-N Azad Kashmir President Shah Ghulam Qadir said the party would not be part of any new or “unnatural” government setup.

“If the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) brings a no-confidence motion, it is their democratic right,” he stated.

Qadir made it clear that the PML-N would not join any new coalition, adding that the formation of a stable and legitimate government in Azad Kashmir was only possible through transparent general elections.

“The PML-N will now play its role as a responsible opposition,” he said. “Any member who deviates from the party’s policy will face disciplinary action.”

Highlighting the party’s ongoing initiatives, Qadir said that PML-N Azad Kashmir is actively working for the welfare of refugees and overseas Kashmiris, and has emerged as an “organised and popular political force” in the region.

He pledged that the party would continue to play a positive and constructive role in resolving the current constitutional and political crisis in Azad Kashmir.

“A strong government in Azad Kashmir can only be formed through fair and free elections,” he reiterated, announcing that a vigorous election campaign would soon be launched under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif.
