Central Power Purchasing Company (CPPC) has sent an application to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for increasing the electricity tariff by Rs2.07 per unit, reported 24NewHD TV channel.
The NEPRA on Tuesday said the application was filed under the fuel adjustment price. The CPPC said that the increase in electricity tariff was due to a surge in diesel and furnace oil prices.
The Nepra said the authority will hear about the CPPC application on September 30th. If approved, the consumers will have to bear an additional Rs25 billion.
