Princess Diana-fame Dr Hasnat Khan set to lead Jinnah Institute of Cardiology

Renowned Pakistani-born British cardiothoracic surgeon Hasnat Khan is set to be appointed as the head of the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology, according to sources familiar with the development.

Dr Khan has reportedly accepted the offer to serve as Dean of the institute and is expected to soon assume charge as both Dean and Chief Executive. His appointment is said to have been finalised under a special pay package.

A graduate of King Edward Medical College, Dr Khan is widely respected in the field of cardiothoracic surgery. He rose to international prominence in the 1990s due to his close association with Princess Diana, a relationship that drew significant global media attention.

Sources indicate that his appointment is part of efforts to strengthen leadership and enhance the standard of cardiac care at the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology. Further official confirmation and details regarding his joining timeline are expected in the coming days.
