Tehran activates air defence as Trump warns of strike on Iranian nuclear site

United States President Donald Trump has threatened military action against an Iranian nuclear facility near Natanz, warning that Washington could soon target the mountainous Koh-e Kolang area if tensions continue to escalate.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, President Trump said the strike could take place soon and claimed that Iran would be unable to prevent such an attack. He also reiterated that the United States had no interest in further engagement unless Tehran was prepared to enter what he described as meaningful negotiations.

Trump further claimed that Iran was seeking to resume talks with Washington and was eager to reach a new agreement, while insisting that any future negotiations would require a significant shift in Tehran's position.

Meanwhile, Iranian state media reported on Wednesday that air defence systems had been activated across Tehran after air defence activity was detected in the western, eastern and north-eastern parts of the capital. State television also reported strikes in several parts of the country as regional tensions continued to rise.

State media reported strikes in northwest and south Iran, and explosions in the city of Bushehr, which hosts a nuclear power plant.

Separately, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that it had launched military operations against targets in Iran for the 11th consecutive night. In a statement posted on X, CENTCOM said the strikes were intended to further degrade Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the US military, the operation targeted military facilities and infrastructure as part of its ongoing campaign in the region. The latest developments come amid an intensifying confrontation between Washington and Tehran, raising fresh concerns over regional security and the risk of further escalation.

AFP reported US Central Command said Tuesday it has begun striking military targets in Iran for the "11th consecutive night," as attacks in the Middle East war intensify.

"The strikes are designed to continue degrading Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz," CENTCOM said in a post on X, adding strikes began at 2300 GMT.

The strikes concluded Wednesday at 0015 GMT, the US military said in a follow-up post, adding its assets "targeted Iranian military operations centers, maritime capabilities, aircraft hangars, drone storage facilities, and military logistics infrastructure."

CENTCOM said Iran has attacked over 30 commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz within the past three months.

"The unwarranted attacks have endangered hundreds of innocent mariners and undermined freedom of navigation," CENTCOM said in a statement.

The US military said it has facilitated the transit of about 900 vessels through the Strait of Hormuz since early May, allowing the passage of 450 million barrels of crude.
