'Doctor Bahu' star Shahzad Nawaz shares hilarious behind-the-scenes stories

Pakistani actor Shahzad Nawaz, who is in the limelight for his performance in the drama serial Doctor Bahu, has revealed some of the funniest moments that happened while shooting the series.

The senior actor shared behind-the-scenes stories, revealing that the cast and crew often struggled to keep a straight face whenever his character, Doctor Shahnawaz Shah, delivered his outrageous lines.

Speaking during an appearance on Gloss Etc with Maliha Rehman, the veteran actor reflected on playing the highly opinionated and often egotistical Doctor Shahnawaz.

According to the actor, the atmosphere on set was often filled with laughter whenever a shocking line appeared in the script.

When asked whether it was fun portraying a character who says such unbelievable things, Shahzad Nawaz admitted that even he found many of the dialogues amusing.

He shared that fellow cast members, including Kubra Khan, Hajra Yamin, Shuja Asad, Adeel, and even director Mehreen Jabbar, would laugh at the dialogue before the scenes were filmed.

Shahzad recalled that there were moments when he would look at the script and think to himself, "What am I saying?" before delivering the line.

Despite the absurdity of some of the character's dialogues, he said the entire team enjoyed bringing the story to life.

The actor also described the experience of working on Doctor Bahu as memorable, saying the cast shared a warm bond on set.

Apart from filming scenes together, they spent time eating, laughing, and enjoying each other's company throughout the production.

While Doctor Shahnawaz's controlling nature has frustrated many viewers, Shahzad Nawaz believes the character's popularity comes from how relatable he feels to audiences.

According to the actor, comments on social media compare Doctor Shahnawaz to real-life relatives, with viewers writing that he reminds them of an uncle, a father-in-law, or even a late family member.
