Love-marriage couple in Jacobabad seek protection, say their lives are at risk

A newlywed couple from the Mirpur Buriro area of Jacobabad has appealed for immediate protection, claiming their lives are in danger after marrying of their own free will.

In a newly released video statement, the couple Muhammad Hassan Buriro and Sidra Chanu said they had committed no wrongdoing and had married legally and in accordance with Islamic principles.

The couple alleged that influential tribal figures in the area retaliated against their marriage by setting parts of their village on fire, causing damage to homes belonging to poor and innocent residents.

“We fear that we may be killed,” the couple said in the video, urging authorities to ensure their safety and provide justice.

They further alleged that local tribal leaders were attempting to pressure and silence them, claiming that the entire village had been targeted following their marriage.

The couple appealed to government and law enforcement officials to protect their lives and property and to take action against those responsible for the violence.
