The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has filed a new application in the Islamabad High Court seeking permission to pass through the federal capital for their November 26 rally in Rawalpindi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In the application submitted in iHC on Tuesday, PTI also prayed to the court to allow party chairman Imran Khan’s helicopter to land and take off from Islamabad’s Parade Ground.
The party also urged the court to bar the authorities from harassing the PTI workers.
Earlier in the day, the PTI withdrew its plea for the issuance of a no-objection certificate (NOC) for organising a rally and sit-in in Islamabad.
The PTI’s lawyer pleaded with the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to accept the party’s request to withdraw its plea for a rally in Islamabad.
IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq accepted the PTI’s request to withdraw its plea for a protest.
The chief justice will hear the petition against the PTI’s long march later today.
Earlier, the PTI had Monday formally submitted a plea to the Islamabad administration for permission to hold a rally at Faizabad on November 26.
PTI Islamabad President Ali Nawaz Awan had submitted the plea.
It had been stated in the plea that the helicopter of the PTI chairman would land at the parade ground in Islamabad from where he would leave for Faizabad to lead the “real freedom march”.
“On November 18, with the permission of the Islamabad administration, a rally was taken out from Koral Chowk to Chak Belly Morr, Rawat while following all the rules,” Ali Nawaz Awan had said in the plea.
“All the PTI rallies have so far been held peacefully. On November 26, we are organising a peaceful and democratic public meeting in Rawalpindi,” he had added.
“We seek permission from the Islamabad administration for all the peaceful rallies of the PTI to reach Faizabad. The landing of the PTI chairman’s helicopter at the parade ground should also be permitted,” he had demanded.
