118 new vehicles purchased for CCD officials

In order to further enhance the capacity of the Crime Control Department (CCD), the provision of cars to the department continues, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

According to the police officials, a large number of luxury cars, single-cabin and double-cabin vehicles have been purchased for the officers of the department.

They have further said that 118 vehicles have been purchased from Rs1 billion allocated during the ongoing financial year (FY).

They have informed that 10 land cruisers have been purchased for senior officials.

The officials have elaborated that eight double-cabin and 100 single-cabin vehicles have been purchased, and that the provision of new cars will be completed in January.

Furthermore, following the provision of new cars, already existing old cars will be returned to the concerned units and districts.

The officials have said that a large number of vehicles had been purchased for the CCD officials during the last FY as well.

After their purchase, these vehicles will be made bulletproof in phases.

On November 11, 24News TV channel reported that the authorities had recommended cash awards worth millions of rupees for the Punjab’s top crime-fighting unit for eliminating eight dangerous criminal gangs.

Eight criminal gangs were eliminated in alleged encounters with Crime Control Department (CCD) personnel across Punjab.

Following the successful operations, the authorities have now recommended cash rewards totalling Rs47.5 million for the CCD teams from eight cities involved in the field action.

The recommendations were made after coordinated intelligence-based actions (IBOs) were carried out in Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Sahiwal, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Gujranwala, and Hafizabad, resulting in the elimination of several high-profile criminal groups.

According to official documents, the authorities have proposed Rs15 million in rewards for the team that took out the Shah Gang in Faisalabad, one of the most notorious criminal networks operating in central Punjab.

A cash reward of Rs8 million has been recommended for the officers involved in the operation that eliminated the Wasim Kulhara Gang in Multan, known for its involvement in multiple murders and robberies.

Similarly, Rs5 million each has been proposed for the police teams that conducted successful operations against the Lori Gang in Sahiwal and those responsible for neutralizing the accused in Lahore and Hafizabad gang rape cases.

CCD officials have also recommended a Rs4.5 million reward for the team that dismantled the Jhaka Gang in Rawalpindi, while Rs2.5 million each has been proposed for actions against Bilal alias Bhalu Gang in Sialkot and the Badam Gul Gang in Gujranwala.

Officials said these operations mark a significant achievement in Punjab’s anti-crime efforts, as several long-wanted criminal groups have now been neutralized.
