Customs destroys massive haul of banned and hazardous items

The Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Gadani, has destroyed a substantial quantity of prohibited and hazardous goods during a major operation, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday. 

The goods included 614.6 MT of betel nuts, 85.7 MT of gutka and supari, 21,261 outers of foreign-origin cigarettes, and 21.25 MT of China salt in a major operation at FEU Khurkhera, said a news release.

The destroyed items were illicit, banned, contraband and expired.  

The incineration ceremony was attended by officers and staff of Customs Enforcement Gadani, along with the Deputy Commissioner and DPO Hub, Judicial Magistrate, representatives of the Environment Department, Pakistan Tobacco Company, Philip Morris, and officials from law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

The Federal Board of Revenue reiterates its resolve to curb smuggling, enforce regulatory controls, and safeguard the health and safety of citizens through sustained enforcement actions.
