The Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly has adopted a resolution condemning the Election Commission of Pakistan’s decision to disqualify former prime minister Imran Khan, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Saturday.
The GB House has unanimously adopted the resolution, stating the Election Commission's decision against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman is a conspiracy to suppress the public mandate and the voice of the people.
The Pakistan Democratic Movement failed in by-elections and seeing the clear signs of defeat in the upcoming elections, it is following the nefarious ambitions of removing Imran Khan from politics, it said, adding that the people and the House of Gilgit-Baltistan reject the ECP decision.
The Punjab Assembly has also adopted the resolution against the ECP verdict in the Toshakhana reference. The ECP yesterday declared Imran Khan disqualified.
The four-member ECP bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja announced its verdict on Friday at ECP Secretariat in Islamabad. The decision which was made last month by the five-member ECP bench was unanimous.
