The forced conversion bill has been held in abeyance as the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has rejected the bill and send it back to the Religious Ministry, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Sources divulged to the 24NewsHD on Wednesday that the forced conversion bill would be deferred as the Council of Islamic Ideology did not approve of it. The CII rejected the proposed bill and sent it back to the Religious Ministry.
The ministry had forwarded the bill to the Islamic council body for its review but the CII rejected it saying there is no age limit for conversion in Islam, sources said.
The draft of the bill contains a clause that specifies to attain a certain age to embrace any religion, sources concluded.
