Newly-appointed US Consul General in Lahore William K Makaneole took charge on Monday.

According to the 24News HD TV channel, William K Makaneole has replaced Catherine Rodrigues.

The new envoy has served in various positions as an international affairs expert.

He recently served as a director in the US National Security Council and assist all US government departments and agencies on national security and counterterrorism issues.

The US consulate spokesperson said he has previously served in diplomatic assignments in Oman, Yemen, Lebanon and the Central African Republic. 

The official said that William has previously served in Peshawar, Pakistan as Regional Security Officer from 2017 to 2018, adding that he has also acted as a liaison officer between the US State Department and the Pentagon.

He has coordinated humanitarian efforts and US embassies security around the world, the spokesman said adding that he studied political science at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
