Pakistani playback singer and actress Noor Jehan passed away on 23 December, 2000 in Karachi.

The lady who is widely acknowledged by the title of 'Malika-e-Tarannum' manages to provoke emotions of deep respect throughout the nation and today as it is the 21st Death Anniversary of the icon who is considered to be one of the most influential music personalities to exist, the late Pakistani star is being remembered with deep sentiments in each household.

Do you know how many songs Noor Jehan managed to sing in her lifetime? The number might shock you. Noor Jehan is estimated to have made more than 40 films and sung around 20,000 hits. Wow.

Noor Jehan is considered to be the first female Pakistani film director. She was known as Allah Rakhi Wasai and belonged from a Punjabi family. 

Let's now shed light on everything Noor Jehan achieved while serving as a massively celebrated showbiz personality: Noor Jehan has been ranked in the list of Most Influential Pakistanis after Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Also, the senior musician was the first Asian woman to sing Qawali.

She is the recipient of President's Award, Special Nigar Award, Pride of Performance, NTM Life Time Achievement Award, Sitara-e-Imtiaz, PTV Life Time Achievement Award, Millennium Award and was also designated as Cultural Ambassador of Pakistan. 

Noor Jehan's last film ‘Ghalib’ was released in 1961.
