Pakistan reports 1,763 new corona cases
The deadly coronavirus was found in another 1,763 people during the past 24 hours (Wednesday), raising the overall number of cases to 169,190.
On the other hand, the death toll increased to 5,709 after 32 died of the virus, shows the updated data released by the National Command and Operation Centre on Thursday morning.
A total of 22,408 tests were administered on Wednesday, which means a total of 1,799,290 tests have so far been carried out since the coronavirus pandemic outbreak.
On the other hand, 213,175 people have so far fully recovered from the infection whereas there are 50,307 active cases currently in the country. Out of these active cases, 1,382 patients are in critical condition and being treated in the intensive care units of different hospitals.
Meanwhile, most of the new coronavirus cases were detected in Sindh where the overall number has now increased to 115,213 after the addition of over 1,000 newly-infected people.
The updated figures for the other provinces and regions are: Punjab 91,129, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 32,753, Islamabad 14,722, Balochistan 11,517, Azad Kashmir 1,961 and Gilgit-Baltistan 1,896.
As far as the deaths are concerned, Punjab has reported 2,100 people dying of the virus. It is followed in 2,060 Sindh, 1,158 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 162 in Islamabad, 136 in Balochistan, 48 in Azad Kashmir and 45 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
