Massive fire guts 11 godowns in Karachi

A massive fire broke out in a scrap godown suddenly and engulfed another 10 nearby godowns within a few hours, reducing them to ashes, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

Soon after receiving the report, six vehicles of the local fire brigade rushed to the scene. Fire brigade personnel said that a large quantity of plastic, second-hand cloth, and other goods were stored in the godowns.

No loss of life was reported from the area. The fire-brigade personnel said the exact cause of the fire and an assessment of the financial damage had yet to be determined.

Heavy contingents of police and Rangers were present at the site of the incident. 

Fire-brigade personnel were able to extinguish the fire after battling huge flames for three hours.
