The Punjab government decided to construct Yellow Line “Cut and Cover Project” underground in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

According to details, Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and National Engineering Services of Pakistan (NESPAK) started work on the design and expenditure of the project along the canal from Thokar Niaz Baig to Harbanspura.

After the completion of the Cut and Cover Project, no trees will be cut, and no green area will be utilized. A trackless tram service will be started as per the standard of Orange Line Mall Road Stations.

A 12 to 14-foot expanded road will be constructed, which will connect Lahore Canal Road from both sides.

A signal-free route will be constructed underground for the trackless wheel tram. After completion of the road, the Canal Road will be opened for traffic.

Lahore Development Authority Chief Engineer said that initially the cost of the project was Rs80 billion, but now the cost is being determined.
