The Civil Aviation Authority has allowed a Qatar airlines flight to land in Pakistan in order to bring back Pakistanis stranded at Doha airport.

The CAA has issued a notification in this regard according to which a special flight from Doha would bring back 72 Pakistanis stranded at Doha airport after arriving from Australia.

Qatar Airways flight no QR633 will land at Islamabad Airport tonight at 8:00 PM. Pakistan has suspended its international flight operations since March 21 with many Pakistanis left stranded at different airports.

There are still dozens of Pakistanis stuck at Istanbul airport for last two days and have appealed to the government to arrange their travel back to home. They said the flights were leaving for Pakistan without having any passenger and the government should allow them to get back to the country.

Meanwhile, the federal government has decided to make special arrangements to bring home the Pakistanis stranded at airports in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Thailand and Turkey.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Security Dr Moeed Yusuf has said that a decision had been made in principle that Pakistanis stranded at airports of the four countries would be brought home.

“However, I suggest that other Pakistanis, who have yet to start their journey, should continue to stay in the countries where they are at the moment. Within a fortnight we will devise a strategy to ensure that the virus does not travel to Pakistan along with the passengers,” he said.
