Pakistan bags $6.9 billion in external funding in first 10-month of FY2025
Economic Affairs Division (EAD) has released a report on external funding during the first ten months of the current fiscal year 2025, reported 24NewsHDTV Channel.
According to the report, Pakistan received $6.9 billion in foreign funding in first 10 months and with the first tranche of $1.2 billion from the IMF, the financing will reach $7.11 billion.
The IMF had also provided $1.2 billion in the second tranche a week and a half ago. The volume of external funding during July-April last year was $7.14 billion. In April 2025, Pakistan received foreign financing of $576.1 million.
Foreign loans worth $5.93 billion were taken from July 2024 to April 2025 and grants worth $160 million were received in 10 months of the current fiscal year.
Ministry of Economic Affairs did not include rollovers from Saudi Arabia, UAE and China in the report. The funding until April 2025 does not include a deposit of $5 billion from Saudi Arabia. Moreover, the funding until April 2025 also does not include a safe deposit of $4 billion from China.
Deposits of $9 billion from Saudi Arabia and China were estimated for the current fiscal year. The federal government has estimated external financing of $19.39 billion for the current fiscal year.
