PM inaugurates Jinnah Underpass completed in record 35 days

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday inaugurated the newly constructed Jinnah Square Murree Road Underpass, a landmark infrastructure project completed in just 35 days—a record for public construction in the capital.
Terming it a nationally beneficial initiative, the Prime Minister said the underpass will ensure smoother traffic flow from Islamabad to the scenic hill station of Murree, reducing congestion and travel time for thousands of commuters.
The 479-metre-long underpass features three traffic lanes and forms a critical part of the broader signal-free corridor project, which aims to streamline travel between Islamabad Airport and Murree.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the prime minister lauded the efforts of Interior Minister Senator Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, IG Islamabad Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, and other officials for what he called a “milestone achievement” in infrastructure development.
“Just 35 days ago, I laid the foundation stone of this project, and today we stand on its completion. This is the kind of speed and dedication Pakistan needs,” PM Shehbaz said.
He further encouraged the interior minister to continue this pace of development, humorously suggesting that with such speed, “projects will soon be completed within a single day.”
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the Armed Forces of Pakistan for their strategic excellence and bravery, which he said resulted in a resounding victory against Indian forces.
“The unity of our nation and the grace of Almighty Allah have led us to this victory. It will remain etched in the memory of our enemy forever,” the Prime Minister declared.
Addressing the ceremony, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi highlighted that the Jinnah Square project adds to his growing list of rapid development initiatives, commonly referred to by the media and public as “Mohsin Speed”.
He announced that work on Faizabad Chowk would commence soon and revealed that upcoming projects include the Shaheen Chowk Underpass, the development of Srinagar Highway, and the launch of a safari park and chairlift.
Naqvi also appreciated the coordination between the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Islamabad Police, NESPAK, and other partners in delivering the project ahead of schedule.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by federal ministers, including Hanif Abbasi, Dr Tariq Fazl Chaudhary, Talal Chaudhary, and Talha Burki; members of parliament; senior officials; and citizens.
