Government forms councils to boost exports
In a bid to increase domestic exports, the government has decided to form Export Advisory Councils for textile and non-textile sectors, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Wednesday.
The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Gohar Ijaz, has been appointed as the head of both councils, according to sources.
The councils will include prominent exporters from different industries, as well as officials from the ministries of commerce, finance, and revenue, and the chief secretaries of the provinces.
Sources said that the members of the Textile Export Advisory Council are Mussadiq Zulqarnain, Fawad Anwar, Shahid Surti, Mian Ahsan, Yaqoob Ahmed, Aamir Fayaz, and Shahid Abdullah.
The members of the Non-Textile Export Advisory Council are Shahzad Malik, Waheed Ahmed, Khalil Sattar, Zulfiqar Malik, Salman Hanif, Adnan Hirani, and Zubair Tufail.
The councils will advise the government on policies and measures to enhance the competitiveness and productivity of the export sectors, and to resolve the issues faced by the exporters.
The councils will also coordinate with the relevant authorities and stakeholders to facilitate the export process and promote the export culture in the country.
