The National Counterterrorism Authority (NACTA) on Thursday issued a threat alert, saying the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was planning terrorist attacks in Pakistan.
According to NACTA, the banned TTP, in connivance with other militant groups, could carry out terrorist attacks in Quetta and Peshawar and well-known political and religious figures could be the targets of these militant groups. It says that terrorists wanted to kill a high profile figure through a suicide bombing or explosion.
NACTA says the explosive material seized in a Balochistan area could have been used in subversive activities in Quetta and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. NACTA has alerted the chief secretaries of all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
