US dollar has reached Rs168.95 from Rs168.68, just inches away from Rs169, after gaining 27-paisa against the Pakistani rupee at the closing time of inter-bank trading on Thursday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

Economic experts were of the view that a surge in the current account put pressure on the exchange rate and there was an increase in dollar demand that led to its phenomenal buying. 

On Wednesday, the US dollar closed at Rs168.68 during inter-bank trading.
