Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will today address the United Nations’ General Assembly’s (UNGA) 77th session, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
The prime minister will inform the international community of colossal loss of life and property due to unprecedented floods in the country’s history, and will also appeal for help in these testing times.
Of total 193 world leaders, who are members of the UNGA, so far 140 have addressed the session.
This is the first UNGA session after lifting of the Covid-19-related restrictions which heads of the states and governments are attending in person.
In his meetings with several world leaders during his stay in New York, PM Shehbaz has informed them of the damage done to people’s lives, properties and even livestock due to worst floods in the country’s history.
He has told them that one-third of the country is still under floodwater.
In his recent video message, he said that Pakistan was presently passing through worst times of its history. “The destruction caused by floods is for everybody to see,” he said, and urged the world to pay serious attention to the rescue and rehabilitation of flood victims.
