PM Shehbaz meets Kuwaiti crown prince on UNGA sidelines

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is currently on a visit to New York to attend the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, on Tuesday held a bilateral meeting with Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah.

During the meeting, the prime minister mentioned the long-standing, historic brotherly relations between Pakistan and Kuwait. He expressed his respect and good wishes for the Emir of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. He said that Pakistan and Kuwait always stood by each other. He thanked the Crown Prince for Kuwait’s solidarity after the recent floods in Pakistan.

Expressing satisfaction with the progress in bilateral cooperation between the two countries, Sharif expressed Pakistan’s desire to further strengthen these relations, especially in the fields of trade, investment, agriculture, livestock, manpower export and health. He said that Pakistan looked forward to hosting the Kuwaiti Crown Prince on an official visit to Pakistan later this year, the dates of which are being finalized through diplomatic channels.

The two leaders also discussed regional and international affairs, including the situation in the Middle East. The crown prince appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to effectively expose the atrocities being committed against the Palestinians to the international community, as well as to play a significant role in peace in the region. The two leaders reiterated their commitment to close cooperation in bilateral and multilateral forums.
