Pakistani actor and singer Danyal Zafar has responded to Nadia Afgan’s viral “deflated balloon” remark about his look in Raqaas, taking the comment in good humour while asking viewers to focus on the drama’s message rather than confusing actors with the characters they play.
Danyal shared a detailed note on Instagram after Nadia Afgan discussed his appearance and performance while reviewing his character in the drama. Referring to her balloon comparison, the actor jokingly called it a new compliment and said it could be taken as proof that his weight-loss journey was working.
But Danyal’s message went beyond the comment about his appearance. He asked viewers to understand the difference between fictional characters and real people, saying that audiences should consider why they make certain choices and what a particular story has to offer.
Discussing Raqaas, Danyal said the story reflects the suppression of expression in society, particularly the restrictions faced by women and girls within their own families.
