Amid austerity drive, Lesco officers and employees cherish bonus

Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has approved a bonus equivalent to one basic salary for all its officers and employees, despite the federal government’s ongoing austerity measures aimed at reducing expenditures, reported 24NewsHD TV.

According to the details, the LESCO Board of Directors approved the payment of bonuses worth hundreds of millions of rupees to the company’s employees. Following the approval, the payment of the bonus has reportedly begun for LESCO officers and employees.

The federal government had directed various institutions and departments to reduce expenditures as part of its austerity policy.

Despite these directives, LESCO’s Board of Directors approved the one-basic-salary bonus for its employees, raising questions over compliance with the government’s cost-cutting measures.
