ECP also postpones LB polls in Karachi

The second phase of the local bodies’ elections has been postponed in Karachi, a day after the LB polls were deferred in Hyderabad district, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) accepted the request of the Sindh government to postpone the local bodies’ elections.
The second phase of local bodies’ elections were scheduled in Karachi on August 28 next.
The local bodies’ elections in nine districts of Hyderabad division have already been postponed.
According to the informed sources, the elections were postponed due to continuous rains and flood-like situation in the city.
On Tuesday, the Election Commission of Pakistan had decided to postpone the second leg of the local government election in the Hyderabad division due to continued torrential rains and floods.
The elections were postponed on the recommendation of the Provincial Election Commissioner and the District Administration of Hyderabad.
The second phase of Sindh Local Government Elections was scheduled to be held in Hyderabad Division from August 28.
