Prime Minister Imran Khan has constituted a 21-member Supreme Committee to handle the local government elections front in Punjab and Pakhtunkhwa, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
The first meeting of the Supreme Committee has been summoned in Islamabad today which will be president by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar and Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar have also been invited to the meeting. Punjab Local Bodies Minister Mian Mahmoodur Rashid, Senator Saifullah Niazi and Amir Kiani will also attend the Supreme Committee huddle.
Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, Asad Qaiser, Pervez Khattak and Murad Saeed will represent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Federal ministers Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, Hammad Azhar and Shafqat Mehmood will also be in attendance.
The maiden Supreme Committee meeting will frame political strategy for the second round of the local body elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Besides readying pre-emptive PTI moves, the meeting is also expected to make important decisions regarding local government elections in Punjab.
The top-level huddle in the first phase will review the names of candidates for divisional headquarters and metropolitans. PTI candidates for mayorships of Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Rawalpindi will also come under scrutiny.

The meeting will also discuss names of candidates for mayorships of metropolitans in Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Sargodha, Gujrat and Sialkot.
The defeat of the ruling PTI in first round of KP local government apparently prompted the constitution of this committee.
