Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to embark on official visit to Uzbekistan

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will undertake a two-day official visit to Uzbekistan on February 25 and 26 at the invitation of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan confirmed on Sunday.

Accompanied by a high-level delegation, the Prime Minister will be joined by Deputy Prime Minister and key cabinet members. During his visit, he is set to hold a bilateral meeting with President Mirziyoyev, where discussions will cover a wide range of topics, including bilateral relations, economic ties, trade, investment, energy, defence and security, regional stability, and education. The two leaders will also deliberate on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

According to the Foreign Office, the visit will witness the signing of several bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two nations.

Additionally, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will address the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Business Forum, where leading business figures from both countries will participate. The forum will also facilitate business-to-business (B2B) meetings to explore avenues for expanding bilateral trade.

Pakistan and Uzbekistan share deep-rooted historical, cultural, and religious ties, along with a common aspiration for regional peace and economic development. The Foreign Office stated that the Prime Minister’s visit underscores Pakistan’s commitment to bolstering relations with Uzbekistan and advancing regional connectivity and economic cooperation.
