10 die in firefight between two groups in Rawalpindi

At least 10 people, including five women and three children, died in a firefight between two groups in Rawalpindi on Friday.
Another three children sustained injuries in the incident that took place in the jurisdiction of Chauntra Police Station.
According to preliminary probe, the reason behind the fierce fight was the murder of a woman over an old enmity in Miyal village of Rawalpindi a few days ago.
Backed by the Elite Force, police rushed to the spot and started investigation after cordoning off the area. A team of forensic experts also reached the spot.
Rawalpindi CPO Sardar Sadaqat and other big guns took to the area and vowed to bring to book the culprits. The bodies have been sent to morgue for autopsy and the wounded to hospitals.
The fierce fight triggered panic among the local. High-ups condemned the incident and issue directives to nail the culprits at the earliest.
According to a handout, Punjab Information Minister Fayyazul Hassan Chohan took notice of the matter and sought a report on the incident from the Rawalpindi police chief. He said the law will take its course and the government will maintain its writ at all cost.
The provincial police chief also sought report about the killings from Rawalpindi police head, a police press release said, adding that the criminals could not escape the law.
