‘Mehwish will always stay with me’, Zoya Nasir reflects on powerful role
Pakistani actress Zoya Nasir shared an emotional tribute to her critically acclaimed character, Mehwish, revealing how the role became one of the most demanding and rewarding experiences of her career.
Taking to her Instagram handle, the actress posted a carousel of clips featuring an intense sequence from the drama serial ‘Mahnoor’. Alongside the videos, she penned a heartfelt note reflecting on her journey with the complex character.
"Watch slides 1 to 6. Closed camera for MAHNOOR few days back. While I've played many performance-driven, layered and intense characters, none have pushed me quite like MEHWISH did," she wrote.
Zoya disclosed that she requested the director to use a 50mm lens for the particular scene and chose to perform it entirely extempore to make the emotions feel more authentic.
"I wanted viewers to truly understand Mehwish, her vulnerabilities, insecurities, fight or flight instincts, desperation when people slip away, her constant struggle to understand right from wrong, fear of abandonment, subconscious victim mentality, strong exterior and fragile heart," she explained.
The actress further described Mehwish as a woman whose actions were shaped by unresolved childhood trauma.
"Everything she did was an attempt to survive. The person she became was solely shaped by the childhood trauma she carried with her," she added.
Expressing gratitude for the overwhelming response to the scene, Zoya shared that she received numerous calls and messages from viewers who connected deeply with Mehwish's emotional journey.

"I received so many calls and texts of appreciation about this scene last night and how deeply it resonated with people, leaving a lasting impact and touching their hearts.
