Sindh govt threatens curfew if people defy lockdown

Sindh Information Minister Nasir Hussain Shah on Tuesday cautioned the people about further strict measures if they continue defying the lockdown orders.
Talking to newsmen, the minister said if people would not sit at their homes then Sindh government has to impose curfew as a last resort.
“I apologize from people in advance if we opt to adopt further strict measures to curb the spread of pandemic coronavirus for the betterment of the people of Sindh,” Nasir Hussain said.
He clarified that these holidays are not for vacationing but to spend them at home.
Sindh Police has arrested 372 people in violation of Section 144 imposed across the province on Monday night.
Tuesday is the second day of 15-day lockdown announced by the Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
The citizens came on the streets despite the lockdown putting their and others’ lives at risk.
According to Ministry of Health portal, Sindh has so far registered nearly 399 coronavirus cases with five cases emerged on Tuesday. One death has been reported so far in the province.
Earlier, announcing the decision, Murad Ali Shah said “No one will be allowed to come out of his house until it is absolutely necessary. If one wants to take a patient to the hospital then a maximum of three people can sit in the vehicle to ferry the patient to the hospital for emergency.”
Sindh government has directed the electricity and gas departments not to disconnect any connection during the next two months. Banks and ATMs will remain open in Sindh.
