Chairperson of the parliamentary committee on appointment of election commission members Dr Shireen Mazari has said the names would be finalized in the Monday meeting.

According to the 24News HD TV channel, Dr Shireen Mazari held the committee meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday and considered the proposed names in detail.

After the meeting, Shireen said all has been set for the appointments of the ECP members as parliamentary committee members have finalized their names that will be confirmed in the final meeting scheduled on Monday at 5 pm.

The Nawaz League’s members Azam Nazir Tarar and Rana Sanaullah said they had consulted on the names of some candidates and also shortlisted them.

Tarar said names have come from both sides for both the provinces, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said the matter of nomination of ECP members for Punjab and KP was highly sensitive so they wanted full consensus on it.

Sanaullah said that consultations have been held on all names and some names are shortlisted.

He said the committee would meet again next Monday after consulting their party leadership on the proposed names.

The 24News HD TV channel sources said that during the meeting federal ministers were not on one page as Pervaiz Khattak and Fawad Chaudhry were in favour of members from their native province.
