Sehwag slams Ishan Kishan’s walking-off as "brain fade moment" in IPL 2025 clash

Former India batter Virender Sehwag has publicly criticized Ishan Kishan for walking off the field despite not being given out during Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) IPL 2025 clash against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Thursday.

The incident, which has sparked controversy, was described by Sehwag as a “brain fade moment.”

The bizarre episode took place in the third over of SRH's innings when Kishan attempted to play a delivery on the leg side but failed to make proper contact.

Despite MI wicketkeeper Ryan Rickelton cleanly collecting the ball, there was no appeal from the fielding side.

 Surprisingly, Kishan chose to walk off the field voluntarily, even though the umpire had not given him out.

Sehwag, known for his blunt assessments, was quick to criticize the decision.

“Many times, the mind fails to work at that moment. It was a brain fade. At least stop and wait for the umpire to make his decision.

He is also being paid for his job,” Sehwag said, emphasizing the importance of waiting for the umpire’s call in such situations.

This unusual act has generated debate regarding the spirit of the game and the importance of decision-making in pressure moments.

While Kishan’s move might have been made with honesty in mind, Sehwag questioned the need for such actions when there was no clear indication of being out.
