Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday reiterated that he would not give NRO to any opposition political party no matter what happens to his government.

Reacting to opposition political parties’ refusal to vote for the two bills, which are part of Pakistan’s efforts to get out of FATF’s grey list, the prime minister tweeted: “Let me make clear: No matter what happens, my govt will not allow any NRO as it would be betrayal of nation's trust in holding plunderers of public wealth accountable. Musharraf gave NROs to the 2 pol ldrs which quadrupled our debt & destroyed economy. There will be no more NROs.”

Khan said that corrupt opposition leaders were desperately trying to save the looted money and this is the reason they are seeking to undermine government’s efforts to get Pakistan off the FATF grey list. He said that corrupt opposition political parties would not mind even if Pakistan falls on the FATF blacklist. He said that former military ruler Pervez Musharraf gave NROs to two opposition leaders and these NROs quadrupled Pakistan’s foreign debt and destroyed the national economy.
