Train service from Quetta to Peshawar suspended for two days

In view of the risk of floods due to heavy monsoon rains in the country, the Jaffar Express service from Quetta to Peshawar was suspended for two days on Monday, as reported by 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to the Pakistan Railway (PR) officials, there will be no train service between these two cities today and tomorrow (August 25 and August 26).

Similarly, the departure of Jaffar Express, which had to leave Peshawar for Quetta today, has also been cancelled. 

However, there is no suspension of the train service between Quetta and Chaman.  

Case lodged for stopping train in TT Singh

Also on Monday, an FIR was lodged by the Faisalabad Railway Police against five persons for stopping the Shalimar Express in Toba Tek Singh at gunpoint.

As per the case registered on the complaint of Head Constable Safdar Iqbal, Muzammal and four others were travelling in Shalimar Express from Toba Tek Singh to Lahore on August 15. “When the train reached Pakka Ana, the suspects snatched a weapon from the head constable and then forced Abdul Qayyum, the driver, to stop the train at gunpoint,” read the FIR.

So far, the Railway Police have taken two suspects into custody.
