ECP issues Imran Khan's arrest warrant in contempt case

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday issued Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan's arrest warrant in contempt of the commission case.

According to the 24News HD TV channel, the ECP heard the contempt case on Monday and issued an order to the Islamabad Police to arrest PTI Chairman Imran Khan and present him before the commission tomorrow (Tuesday, July 25).

The channel reported that the Election Commission has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for PTI Chairman Imran Khan for his non-appearance before the commission in the contempt case as he did not join the commission's proceedings in term of section 10 of the Elections Act-2017.

This is stated in the warrant order to the police, "This warrant authorises and requires you to arrest the said Mr Imran Ahmad Khan Niazi and bring him before the Election Commission of Pakistan on 25th day of July, 2023 at 10:00 a.m."
