PAA issues advisory to pilots over monsoon birds

Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) issued on Wednesday a new advisory for pilots regarding the presence of birds in the surrounding areas of airports due to the monsoon season, reported 24NewsHDTV channel.

According to NOTAM, the presence of a large number of birds was witnessed below the height of 3,000 feet around the airfields.

The NOTAM further warned the pilots to take full precautionary measures before landing or taking off.

Airport sources further revealed that relevant officials are considering closing Allama Iqbal International Airport (AIIA) for three hours daily from July 1, 2025 to September 15, 2025 due to the presence of a large number of birds.

These measures are being adopted for the safety and security of passengers. 

Airport sources said that a new NOTAM will be issued regarding the closure of the airport.
