Majalis, processions mark 9th Muharram across Pakistan

The 9th of Muharram-ul Haram was observed on Thursday with due solemnity and respect to pay homage to the sacrifices rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in Karbala, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Majalis were being held in all small and major cities while processions of Tazia and Alam were also taken out in different cities.

In Islamabad, the main procession of 9th Muharram was taken out from Imambargah G-6/2.

The Islamabad Capital Territory Police and Islamabad Traffic Police have made elaborate arrangements to ensure foolproof security of the procession. Inspector General Islamabad Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said more than thousand officials of the district police and traffic police have been deployed to ensure security of the procession and smooth flow of traffic on the route of the procession.

A Central Control Room at the Safe City has also been established to monitor the procession.

In Lahore, a majlis was held at Qasr Batool Imambargah in Shadman where the Shabih of Zuljinnah procession was taken out in which a number of mourners participated.

Maulana Zakir Hussain led the Zohrain prayers outside Fatima Memorial Hospital. The procession passed through Shah Jamal Roundabout and ended at 55-Shah Jamal.

Further, a procession of the image of Zuljinah was taken out from the Atiya Ahl-e-Bayt Imambargah on Lahore’s Nicholson Road on 9th Muharram. 

The procession ended after reaching the Atiya Ahl-e-Bayt Imambargah via its designated routes. Allama Absar Naqvi led the majlis.

In Karachi, main 9th Muharram procession was taken out from Imambargah Bab-e-Fatima. A procession of the holy symbol, the Shabih of Zuljinnah, was taken out and a large number of the Azzadarain-e-Hussain participated in the procession.

In Uch Sharif, the procession of the central funeral procession, which started from the Imambargah of Mohalla Khawajagan, has reached the small market through its designated routes.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, and Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar are also expected to visit Rohri where they will be briefed on Muharram processions.

Rohri's longest mourning procession will stop at Maidan-e-Karbala in the evening.

The mourning procession will pass through Dhak Bazaar, Shahi Bazaar, and Chowki Ghati to reach Wichora Chowk.

After stopping at Maidan-e-Karbala, the mourning procession will end at the Martyrs' Graveyard near Station Road on Ashura Day.

In Faisalabad, a procession took out from the central Imambargah Azakhana Shabbir.

A large number of mourners of Imam Hussain (AS) were present at the mourning ceremony.
